Inner Child Healing Activities & Journal Prompts
A good way to connect with your inner child is by doing a guided meditation. Lay down in a comfortable position and start to picture something that made you happy as child. Feel that feeling of warmth in your heart and through out your body. Think about what brought you to that feeling of happiness. Did you feel safe? Did you feel loved? Did you feel understood? Did you feel connected? Did you feel secure? Think about a time before you felt doubt in yourself. Connect to that feeling and really identify those emotions.
In the second part of the guided meditation think of time when you were a child where you felt lost. How did that make you feel ? Did you feel scared? Did you feel worry? Did you feel you insecure? Did you feel unwanted? Did you feel unlovable ? Tap into these emotions and really feel them. Do not run from them but allow yourself to feel.
Think about times in your adult life where these similar emotions come up. How do you treat yourself when these emotions come up are you mean to yourself? Are you hard on yourself ? Do you suppress your emotions or do you allow yourself to feel ? Think about what you would tell your inner child if they were going through the same situation. How would you treat them ? Give yourself the same compassion you would if you were a child. Be kind to yourself. Show yourself grace. Allow yourself to have gentle moments. Give yourself that you know that you need and deserve.
When you come out of the meditation allow yourself to reflect and feel what ever emotions come up. It is all normal. You can also take a few moments and go over these journal prompts?
